Nickelodeon and Playmates Launch New TMNT Toys

If you’re a big fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and action figures in general, you may want to check out this year’s Toy Fair in New York (sched is Feb. 12 to 15), since that’s where Nickelodeon and Playmates will launch their new line of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys, based the new CG-animated show set to premiere in the fall.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was original created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, and the first iteration of the cartoon aird from 1988 to 1996, inspiring some of the most licensed toys during that era. The first batch of toys in the new Playmates line, 40 action figures in total, will feature the four main turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo.

“We’re excited to continue working with our long-standing partner Playmates on the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy line,” says Manuel Torres, senior VP of global toys and consumer electronics, Nickelodeon. “Playmates understands the property and has helped us reinterpret the toys from a fresh perspective, while staying true to the action and fantasy of this iconic franchise. The new toys capture the excitement of our new series in a way that fans of all ages can appreciate.”
