The most recent Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation included a nostalgic nod to Final Fantasy’s past, which served as a lead-in to a trailer for the upcoming 3DS action RPG, Final Fantasy Explorer. Square Enix has slated the game for a winter release in Japan. You can get your first look at the game by checking out the presentation below:
Now, the 3DS is region-locked so us non-Japanese owners will probably have to sit for a while and wait for a port (especially since FF games – even the action-oriented ones – aren’t kind to us non-Japanese speakers), but it’s pretty safe to say that something as popular as the FF franchise (even the non-numbered spin-offs) will eventually make their way to the West. I mean, even FF Type-0 eventually made the jump, even if it’s a case of too little, too late.
