New Hyrule Warriors Clip Features Zelda Using the Wind Waker

The idea to create a Tecmo Koei-style crowd brawling game based on The Legend of Zelda franchise is certainly a novel one that finally allows fans to see what it’s like to play as the side characters (as opposed to always being stuck playing as one of Link’s various iterations). With Hyrule Warriors, fans also get to see interesting permutations on the formula, as proven by the latest gameplay clip: Princess Zelda herself using the Wind Waker weapon.

For the uninitiated (or those who haven’t played Wind Waker yet), the Wind Waker is a conductor’s baton that can be used to invoke several powers of nature by conducting disembodied voices. It’s basically Wind Waker’s version of the Ocarina, but instead of using songs to control time, Link uses songs to control the direction of the wind, to transport to specific locations, and to awaken the two new sages’ latent abilities.
