Nickelodeon has recently ordered 20 episodes of the social-media oriented animated comedy series Pinky Malinky. The move is part of the network’s campaign to bolster their catalogue with original and internationally acclaimed content. Pinky Malinky is being produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank and is set to premiere in 2016.
The series focuses on the titular positive hotdog, who lives in the human world and must deal with school life alongside his two best friends. The show uses a mock documentary style and pokes fun at reality TV clichés.
“In this fast-paced digital age, the online extensions in this brand-new series are another example of how Nickelodeon meets the needs of our kids who want to access content anytime and everywhere,” says Nickelodeon president of content development & production Russell Hicks.
