Will the next Total Drama be about … daycare?

We’ve previously shared the announcement that Total Drama is coming back and now we’ve possibly got a hint about what the sixth season of the series will be about. ToonBarn has learned the show is currently in production in Toronto, Canada under the name “Total Daycare Drama.” Yes, you read that right. Daycare.

Are the cast of Total Drama getting shrunken down for a Rugrats-esque adventure, or is this just a sneaky diversion tactic? You see, production titles are often work-in-progress and get changed before the final release. In fact, Total Daycare Drama might just be a slight of hand from the crew at Fresh TV. It’s not uncommon for production titles to be purposely misleading, to prevent sleuths from digging up information that shouldn’t be public yet. This year’s Power Rangers film, for example, was listed as “Shirt” during its production to throw off the scent of hardcore fans.

The idea of pint sized versions of the Total Drama stars isn’t exactly a new one. Fans have been imagining what the younger versions of the characters would look like for years. The image used for this post is just one of those thoughts brought to life by fan artist Kikaigaku.

While a lot of information for the next season is still up in the air, Fresh TV has been confirming some minor details on social media. Aftermath, which was a segment where the cast spoke about what just happened in the episode (modeled after reality show after shows) isn’t expected to come back. Neither is the long version of the theme song – a Cartoon Network requirement, as most of their productions now have a 20-second opening track. We’ve heard some rumblings about Total Drama season 6 being in development for Cartoon Network (and Teletoon), but that could be a public confirmation.

The Total Drama franchise just celebrated its 10th anniversary. The first entry, Island, originally debuted in Canada on Teletoon on July 8, 2007. The series went on hiatus in 2015 after 5 seasons and a spinoff totaling 146 episodes.
