While Pixar has managed to keep the Toy Story franchise alive with various CG theatrical shorts that feature some of the supporting cast (Haiian Vacation, Small Fry, Partysaurus Rex), fans who want a full length return for the entire cast would be disappointed as Toy Story 3 effectively closed the book on the gang (on a high/positive note, though). At least, that “was” the case.
It turns out Pixar is planning on bringing back the entire toybox with two 22-minute TV specials that will debut in 2013 and 2014. The first special, slated for 2013, is horror-themed and cleverly-titled Toy Story of Terror. The synopsis making the rounds on the net goes:
“What starts out as a fun road trip for the Toy Story gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this Toy Story of Terror.”
