WonderCon Interviews with Voltron Legendary Defender Cast & Crew

Voltron Legendary Defender debuted on the convention scene last year at WonderCon 2016, and now, 1 year later, with 2 drops on Netflix (June 10, 2016 and January 20, 2017), it is a verifiable smash hit with fans of all ages. If you track the amount of cosplay of Voltron Legendary Defender characters from WonderCon 2016 to SDCC 2016 to NYCC 2016 and finally WonderCon 2017, it has skyrocketed! There were hundreds of fans dressed as their favorite Voltron Legendary Defender characters, as well as some classic Voltron: Defender of the Universe cosplay from the #1 syndicated show from over 30 years ago.

Check out all these great Voltron Legendary Defender cosplayers:

Our friends at Let’s Voltron: The Official Voltron Podcast, hosts Marc Morrell and Greg Tyler, were at WonderCon to interview the cast and crew of Voltron Legendary Defender, including Josh Keaton (Shiro), Kimberly Brooks (Allura), Jeremy Shada (Lance), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Pidge), Tyler Labine (Hunk), Tim Hedrick (Head Writer), Lauren Montgomery (Co-Exec Producer), and Joaquim Dos Santos (Exec Producer). This video is about 15 minutes long, so make sure you watch all the way through to see all these extremely talented people.

The cast and crew also signed autographs for jubilant fans at WonderCon, where they received a signed lithograph designed by Joaquim Dos Santos of Keith in his Blade of Marmora outfit, and they were allowed to get one personal item signed. Here are some pictures from that autograph signing:

Of course, there was also a panel, starring the same crew you saw in the interviews above. And, in that panel it was confirmed that there is definitely a Season 3 for Voltron Legendary Defender coming to Netflix later this year, but a specific date has not been set at this time. We also learned that Prince Lotor will be featured heavily in Season 3, and the producers even played a clip during the panel, where the audience was able to hear Prince Lotor’s voice, over images from the show, without actually showing the character. So, we still do not know what Lotor will look like or even the voice actor who is playing him. We can speculate that this information may be revealed at San Diego Comic Con, where Voltron Legendary Defender should have a strong presence.

Within a week of this story, a second podcast of Voltron WonderCon coverage will be available on Let’s Voltron, where they will have actual audio from the panel, and will be discussing it in detail.

I am a Big Fan of all types of animation. Like a lot of things, the cream always rises to the top. My favorites have included Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels, anything Pixar, Phineas and Ferb, Voltron Legendary Defender, and the DC/WB Animated Films. I have a lot of Old School favorites as well, such as Star Blazers, Voltron, Looney Toons, Tom & Jerry, and Scooby Doo.
