After concluding the show’s first season on December 17th, Nicktoons in the United States is finally ready to move forward with Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. The channel will run the first episode of season three, “A Warlike Welcome,” on January 13th at 9AM ET/PT.
You might be thinking, “Wait, they just finished first season and now they’re already on the third?” Valid confusion. According to ToonZone member 4Kids4EverFandom, Viacom, the owner of Nicktoons, was instructed by 4K Media, the company behind the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise outside of Asia, to skip ahead. Allegedly, this is being done to better align the US television run with the Yu-Gi-Oh! product releases, which have since become severely disconnected due to Nicktoons’ protracted broadcast of the first season. We can’t vouch for the validity of that forum post, but can you come up with a more rational explanation? Neither can we.
Season three began airing in Canada on Teletoon on July 22nd. 9Go! in Australia began airing the season on November 25, 2017. In both cases, the channels aired the show’s second season before proceeding ahead with more.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo on April 6, 2014 and concluded on March 26, 2017, after 148 episodes. The English dub first debuted on Teletoon on July 24, 2015. Nicktoons began their broadcast on February 21, 2016. The show’s third season marks its last. The ongoing Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS has replaced. Marking a first for the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, the latter is getting an official English subtitled simulcast alongside its Japanese broadcast. 4K Media plans on rolling out the show through more traditional outlets internationally this year.
