Yu-Gi-Oh! Season 1 Makes Its Way to Netflix
Fans of OG Yu-Gi-Oh! will be delighted to know that the first season of the anime series has finally found its way to Netflix’s streaming library this month. The announcement came via a Tweet from the streaming service’s official Twitter account, stating that “It’s Time to Duel!”
— Netflix US (@netflix) November 5, 2014
Yu-Go-Oh!’s first season originally premiered for US viewers back in April 2000, and tells the tale of a timid young boy named Yugi Mutou, who has a penchance for games and a tendency to get bullied around. When he happens across an ancient artifact called the Millennium Puzzle, his body becomes host to a mysterious spirit with the personality of a gambler. From that moment onwards, whenever Yugi or one of his friends is threatened by those with darkness in their hearts, this other Yugi shows himself and challenges them to dangerous Shadow Games which reveal the true nature of someone’s heart, the losers of these contests often being subjected to a dark punishment called a Penalty Game.
