Kingdom Hearts Recoded on its way to Nintendo DS

Kingdom Hearts Recoded on its way to Nintendo DS

On January 11th of the new year (2011!!!) Disney is teaming with Square Enix to unveil the latest Kingdom Hearts title on Nintendo DS; Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. Sora’s journey in Kingdom Hearts II has drawn to a close, and now a new tale is set to begin. Jiminy Cricket is looking over the journal he used to document his first adventure with Sora when he discovers a mysterious message. He didn’t write it – so how on earth did it get there? King Mickey is determined to find out, so he and his friends decide to digitize the journal and delve into its deepest secrets. Inside this “datascape” dwells a second Sora who is about to embark on a grand adventure of his very own.

Wizard Hat Productions heads to Grim Hill

Wizard Hat Productions heads to Grim Hill

Linda DeMeulemeester probably never had an animated series in mind when she wrote her first Grim Hill book. But once the first was deemed a success, and a sequel met with a similar reaction, the train kept rolling! Now, with 5 titles in the franchise, Wizard Hat Productions wanted to jump in to ready a CG animated series based on the adventures. The tale mixes Celtic myths with faerie lore, with Cat, Sookie, Jasper, and Clive live their regular teenage lives while fighting powerful, mythical creatures. Wizard Hat has been crafting the look of the series with guidance from Pam Slavin, Toni Stevens, and Bill Fox, who formally worked at Cookie Jar Entertainment.

Pokemon Black and Pokemon White march towards Nintendo DS

Pokemon Black and Pokemon White march towards Nintendo DS

The Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version Nintendo DS games are coming soon, each set to arrive in stores on March 6th, 2011. Conveniently (or, perhaps, inconveniently) this is about the same time Nintendo will be unveiling the successor to the DS, the Nintendo 3DS. As no mention has been made of this game possessing a secret 3D mode, fans have been speculating that these titles will likely mark the swan song for the original handheld, as more and more lean towards the 3D future. Either way, we can’t recall being so excited for a game to arrive, much less two — can you??

Nelvana presents Melanie Watt's Scaredy Squirrel

He’ll wear rubber gloves, use air freshener, avoid anything with teeth, and still, Scaredy is terrified of everything he encounters. First published in 2006, the Scaredy Squirrel book series is written and illustrated by Mélanie Watt via Kids Can Press. Now, the fearful rodent is teaming with Nelvana to bring the books to animated form in a new cartoon series. Of the four existing books (Scaredy Squirrel, Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend, Scaredy Squirrel at the Beach, and Scaredy Squirrel at Night) each depicts Scaredy being afraid of at least 5 things — who knows how many things will terrify him in the toon!!
