Hasbro and Shout present Transformers: Headmasters, The Japanese Collection

Hasbro and Shout present Transformers: Headmasters, The Japanese Collection

Transformers Season 4 may have ended the American series of Transformers Generation 1 back in the 1980s, but Japan had many more stories to tell! Instead of the 4th season of Gen One as Americans knew it, the Japanese replaced the storyline with Transformers: Headmasters, beginning one year after the end of Season 3. Optimus Prime lives again, the energy of the Matrix has been released, and peace reigns on Cybertron. But all of this is soon to change, with the startling arrival of the newest bred of Transformers warrior – the Headmasters! The result is a few dozen “new” episodes of the G1 Transformers that most have never seen – that is, until July 5th, when Hasbro and Shout! Factory bring the Transformers: The Japanese Collection Headmasters DVD box set to stores!

Pixar flies Planes as spinoff to Disney’s Cars

Pixar flies Planes as spinoff to Disney's Cars

Pixar and Disney may have just driven Cars 2 to theaters, but they’re already producing the spinoff, Planes. They’ve conquered the roads, so why not set to the skies? The project is currently slated as a DisneyToon Studios 2013 direct-to-video release, though it’s important to remember Toy Story 2 originally started as a direct-to-video production, before getting a greenlight for the big screen. So could we see new Planes characters jetting past Lightning McQueen in theaters, instead of just DVD and Blu-ray? Certainly possible. What’s important for now is just to see how awesome their world is, mixing a small town dreamer named Dusty into the big leagues of flight. Check out the teaser trailer

Voltron Force: the Voltron Formula Still Works

Voltron Force: the Voltron Formula Still Works

After my 8-year-old son and I finished watching NickToons’ Voltron Force (Episode 4: Coran, Coran) on Thursday, he said something to me that was very profound about the show, and true of a lot of shows in general.  He concluded that there is a distinct formula in these shows that is simple, yet effective. (1.) The Evil Villain starts the show by hatching a diabolical plan to put an end to our hero. (2.) Our hero spends most of the show in turmoil, fighting insurmountable odds at every turn, as the Evil Villain continues to have the upper hand. (3.) Just as the Evil Villain appears to strike the final blow, our hero, through the use of teamwork, special skills or powers, and clever thinking, defeats the Evil Villain’s plan, but not permanently keeping the Evil Villain from doing more harm in the future. (4.) Our hero has triumphed over the Evil Villain, and our hero feels he has learned something and become better from the experience, but remains vigilant, knowing there will be more conflicts yet to come. So does this formula hold up over time? And will it work in tonight’s episode?

Muppets: The Green Album from Walt Disney Records

In this latest Muppets revival boom, as we inch our way closer to November’s new Muppets movie, we simply can’t get enough of the whole world folks like Jim Henson created. Apparently, we’re not alone, as many of the music industry’s biggest stars have gotten together to release a brand new record, Muppets: The Green Album. Hitting stores on August 23rd, the record will feature 12 classic Muppet songs, revised and recrafted by current bands and artists, like Weezer, OK Go, The Fray, and more. The film, now appropriately dubbed The Muppets, hits on November 22nd, so this musical experience will have to hold us over until then. Take a look at the full track list!

4Kids and P&R roar with Dinosaur King

4Kids and P&R roar with Dinosaur King

There might still be a messy legal battle with Yu-Gi-Oh!, not to mention the whole filing for bankruptcy thing, but 4Kids is still kicking! To prove there’s still some might in their step, the company recently signed a deal with P & R to spread the fun of Dinosaur King around the world. The deal includes a number of Dinosaur King branded products, from stickers to books to candy and chips. The roll out of items will begin later this year, as the new season starts up on 4Kids’ Toonzai. While most of the products will be heading to Asia and Eastern European locations, there are rumors of a new toyline developing for the North American region afterward. How many Dinosaur King fans are here?

Disney and Pixar target November 27, 2013

Disney and Pixar target November 27, 2013

Hot on the release of Cars 2, the reveal of Planes, and the teaser info of Brave, Disney and Pixar are at it again, locking down November 27th, 2013 for … something! Truth is, no one knows for sure what that date is locking in. All that has been revealed thus far is that Disney and Pixar have secured that date, which falls sometime around Thanksgiving two years from now. Is this a look into Toy Story 4? A fixed release for Monsters University, currently slated for June of that year? Rumors are suggesting this is NOT a sequel to an existing franchise, so could we be looking at an entirely new Pixar and Disney film? CG? 3D? Who knows! All we can say is, as soon as our scouts get the information, we’ll keep you posted. If you had your wish, what would you like it to be?

The animated adventure will be based on Charles Fuge’s book series of the same name, starring Wombat and his world in the Hollow with friends like Koala, Frog, Mole, and many others. There is not yet a launch date or launch channel known for the series, but it’s likely to be picked up by a network looking to welcome a world of child-like curiosity! E3 2011: X-Men Destiny for Marvel

E3 2011: X-Men Destiny for Marvel

School is still in session for Marvel’s X-Men: First Class, but that hasn’t stopped the House of Mouse from expanding the Mutant’s universe further with a new video game title, X-Men: Destiny. Disney will bring the game to the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS this September, allowing fans to pop claws, shoot eye lasers, control weather, or otherwise “get their Mutant on.” Gamers can choose from three characters, then select the skills your character learns. These three have their own fighting style (like any mutant does) and your selected character will have special skills that you’ve picked out for them.
