Evolution Unveils New Licensing Program for Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return

Leading licensing and global brand management firm Evolution will be unveiling a new licensing program for SummerTime Entertainment’s forthcoming 3D animated musical feature Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, at the upcoming Licensing Expo in Las Vegas (booth B71).

Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return is based on the original book series written by Roger S. Baum, who is the great grandson of Oz’s original creator L. Frank Baum. The story follows original protagonist Dorothy as she returns to Kansas, only to find it devastated by the same tornado that whisked her away in the first place. She is then whisked back to Oz, where she meets a new set of friends and enemies.

Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return features an all star cast that includes Lea Michele as “Dorothy” and Kelsey Grammer, Martin Short, Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Megan Hilty, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Dancy, Oliver Platt and Bernadette Peters, with all new original music by Bryan Adams.

Grimm Fairy Tales Animated Pilot Panel at Wizard World Philly

Zenescope Entertainment's Grimm Fairy Tales Animated Series Pilot is screening at Wizard World Philly

Zenescope Entertainment successfully crowdfunded a Kickstarter Project last year to turn their Grimm Fairy Tales comic book series into an animated series. A year later, Zenescope is proud to be able to screen the Pilot Episode for the Grimm Fairy Tales Animated Series to attendees at Wizard World Philadelphia.

The screening has been packing the house since its debut at C2E2 in April and will be shown FREE (on a first come basis) at the “Grimm Fairy Tales Animated” screening held on Saturday, June 1st from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in Room 108 of the convention center. The screening will be hosted by Zenescope co-founders and producers Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco and director/ producer Jon Schnepp. The pilot features the voices of Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, 300), Briana Evigan (Step Up 2, The Devil’s Carnival, Chris Hardwick (Nerdist), Robert Forster (Jackie Brown) and character designs by top artists such as Alex Pardee, Eric Powell and Bill Sienkiewicz. The panel will also feature never seen before behind the scenes footage of the making of the pilot!

New Teen Titans GO! Clip: Hey Pizza!

Warner Bros. Animation has just released a new teaser clip for next week’s episode of Teen Titans GO!, titled “Hey Pizza,” which airs on Tuesday, June 4, 7:30 PM on Cartoon Network. There’s also a bunch of nifty stills that you can gawk at, if the video is not enough.

In “Hey Pizza!,” the disconnect between the goals and wants of the three boys in the team are outlined, as it shows Robin struggling with the decision on whether to build a senior center or the pool, while Beast Boy and Cyborg merely do their best to try and get a free pizza. K Anime To Be Added to Neon Alley’s Streaming Titles This Summer

The anime series K (Project K in some regions) is going to have a very busy year. Not only is a movie version scheduled for 2014, the series is also making its way to Neon Alley this summer. The series was previously streamed online by master licensee Viz, and similar to other shows on Neon Alley, K will be debuting with an English dub.

K is directed by Shingo Suzuki, whose past credits include a stint as chief animation director on the Mardock Scramble films, animation director on Samurai 7 and Shugo Chara!, and more.

Nickelodeon’s Sanjay and Craig Gets Nearly 4 Million Viewers on its Debut

Nickelodeon’s newest animated comedy series Sanjay and Craig managed to attract a total of 3.6 million viewers during its premiere last Saturday, May 24, driving double digit gains with kids aged 2 to 11 and kids aged 6 to 11, managing to rank as the number 2 kids’ program on all TV for the week, second only to SpongeBob SquarePants.

Produced and developed by Hasbro Studios, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls is an all new animated family adventure that boasts of an exceptional voice cast and delivers a refreshing new take on the hit My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series.

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls follows Twilight Sparkle as she tries to pursue a thief that has stolen a crown from the Crystal Empire. Unfortunately, her pursuit led her into an alternate world where she transforms into a teenage girl who must survive her biggest challenge yet: high school.

Dracco and BRB Internacional Preps Filly Funtasia

BRB International is getting ready to launch a new cartoon series based on Dracco’s Filly line of products, with the finishing touches to the series being added by renowned figures from USA cartoon sitcom fame, including Dean Stefan (The Penguins of Madagascar, The Octonauts, Jake & The Never Land Pirates), Noelle Wright (Doc McStuffins, Sofia The First), Jymn Magon (Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures) and Johnny Hartmann (Monster High), all of whom are already hard at work on new episodes alongside award-winning Sean Derek (The Smurfs, ZhuZhu Pets, Strawberry Shortcake, Sabrina, Hello Kitty).

Anime Adaptation of Arpeggio of Blue Steel Confirmed

A week ago, fans caught a domain name registration that hinted at Nisekoi and sci-fi manga Arpeggio of Blue Steel being adapted into anime. Now, the speculations about an Arpeggio of Blue Steel anime adaptation were proven to be true, a day after Nisekoi was also confirmed. The confirmation was made at the seventh volume of Ark Performance’s manga. A few bits of information, particularly the production staff:

The WWE and Warner Brothers return for the Flintstones

This comes as a bit of a surprise. World Wrestling Entertainment and Warner Brothers are planning to do a movie using several WWE “Superstars” and the Flintstones. John Cenastone (a Play on CornerStone, based on John Cena), CM Punkrock (CM Punk) and Vince McMagma (you can guess who this guy is) will be in the animated production as Voice Actors. This is the second movie using the Brand Superstars, Scooby Doo’s version with the WWE, is still in production.
