Magix hits Nickelodeon with Winx Club

Magix hits Nickelodeon with Winx Club

So, we just recently started to get some official bits of news about the Winx Club heading over to Nickelodeon. For years, we’ve been without our favorite fairies, and years before that, they were on the various 4Kids programming, like CW4Kids, 4KidsTV, and even the FoxBox. Now, Nickelodeon plans to give the girls (Bloom, Stella, Musa, Tecna, Flora, and Aisha) all sorts of Magix. Just as many of you head out of school for summer, Nick is sending the girls to Alfea College, where each can train to become the best fairy they can be. Will the Trix get in the way? I guess that’s just the risk (rix?) we’ll have to take. As long as it means more Winx Club on TV!!

Pixar and Disney’s Monsters University; What about Boo?

Pixar and Disney Monsters University What about Boo

Just recently, Disney began spilling the beans about their upcoming CG animated film, Monsters University. The second film in the Monsters franchise, set to release on June 21st 2013 – some twelve years after the original Monsters, Inc. was released – will actually take place before the first film. That’s right, it’s about the early days of Sulley and Mike, and the bond they formed while becoming the Monsters they were meant to be. That’s all well and good, and we’re certainly excited to see the return of some of our favorite Pixar characters, but… what about Boo? The adorable little girl who co-starred in the first film? If this story takes place before the pair ever met her (and likely before she was even born) does that mean we’re to go Boo-less in the prequel?

The Wild Brood hits Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated on Cartoon Network

Tonight, Cartoon Network gets a dose of The Wild Brood! When a biker gang — an Orc biker gang for those keeping score at home — blows through Crystal Cove, the whole gang is upset. Well, the whole gang except for Daphne, who develops a crush on the leader Odnarb (“Brando” reference, anyone?). When the two head out for a date, it splits the gang’s opinion on the bikers, with Daphne defending the Orcs while Fred, Scooby, Velma and Shaggy think otherwise. So who comes out on top on Hanna-Barbera’s latest episode of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated? TOON in to “The Wild Brood” tonight at 7:30pm to find out!

Cartoon Network hot dogs Pinky Malinky

Cartoon Network hot dogs Pinky Malinky

If it’s not an animated movie, or an animated series, it must be smaller, right? Shorter, anyway? Well, that’s what Cartoon Network Development Studio has been working on, with a brand new animated short called Pinky Malinky. It’s your typical story; coming of age, first day of high school, waking up one morning as a walking, talking, 3-foot tall hot dog. …um… Yeah, OK, that’s pretty nutty. And, personally, I think something like that needs a longer amount of time to tell the full story! And THAT is the whole point. The 2009 animated short is now aiming to become a full TV series. Think it’s got the meat?

Star Wars: The Clone Wars season four on Cartoon Network

Star Wars: The Clone Wars season four on Cartoon Network

Maybe it started a long, long time ago, but it really only feels like three years! The truth is, Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been one of Cartoon Network’s biggest hits over the past few seasons; so much so that the CN is proudly bringing the Lucas teams back for yet another season – the show’s fourth. What will be in store for The Clone Wars season four? Well, we got a glimpse of that a few weeks back, but here’s what we’re hoping for: more Chewbacca, more looks into the life and family of Darth Maul and Savage Opress, and maybe just a tease of some Han Solo! Maybe as some sorta rebellious baby. Oooh, and maybe my own Lightsaber. Anyone else?

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark turns dark

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark turns dark

Maybe it was the Green Goblin. Maybe it was due to the dozens of accidents. Heck, maybe the cast is just afraid of being devoured whole by partially untrained dragons. The true answers may never surface, but the fact remains: Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is closing. At least for now. During this past weekend’s show, the cast took a final bow as curtains closed, letting producers, including U2’s Bono and The Edge, and a new creative team have some time to overhaul and fix the show. Everyone involved hopes to have previews ready to go May 12th, with a relaunch on June 14th at the Foxwoods Theater. Technically, the show has still never opened, airing only previews since November of 2010. Maybe one day, Peter Parker. Maybe one day.
