It’s been five years since Walt Disney launched the first film in the Cars franchise, and since then, the CG animated movie about anthromorphic vehicles has become one of the studio’s most lucrative and popular franchises. Walt Disney has recently announced their plans to expand and support the Cars franchise by way of additional branded content and consumer-level merchandise. This involves new Cars animated shorts that are slated to appear as bonus content on DVDs as well as on the Disney Channel, Disney XD, and their other digital platforms. Some of the shorts are also planned to run during theater previews.
Disney Parks & Resorts will also open Cars Land in support of the franchise. The 12-acre attraction will feature at least 3 new immersive segments at Disney California Adventure.
