The Hub and Cartoon Network to be BFFs in 2011

The Hub has really come on strong since launching just two months ago. With a lineup that includes Transformers Prime, Twisted Whiskers, G.I. Joe Renegades, Atomic Betty, and so many more, folks at Turner Broadcasting (the people behind the Cartoon Network juggernaut) have already begun taking huge notice! Turner has since approached those at Hasbro Studios and Discovery (the people behind the Hub) about acquiring several toons to air across Cartoon Network in other countries. This includes Transformers Prime, The Adventures of Chuck and Friends, Pound Puppies, and My Little Pony. Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon Trailer Teaser

Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon Trailer Teaser

40 years ago, in 1969, the crew of the Apollo 11 moon landing mission took a few famous first steps onto the lunar surface. That much is known and historically famous. What is not known is what the crew discovered on the dark side of the moon during their top-secret mission. For the span of 21 minutes, the group documented the wreck of a Cybertronian spacecraft, confirming that mankind is not alone in the universe. This was the first known interaction with the Transformers, a group that would later spawn a war between Autobots and Decepticons (like Optimus Prime and Megatron) on earth. On July 1st, 2011, the third film in the Transformers Trilogy will hit theaters, but we have a teaser trailer of the sequel to check out now!

Transformers: Prime brings Transformers Generation 1 to The Hub this October

Transformers: Prime brings Transformers Generation 1 to The Hub this October

The Transformers have been around for thousands of years, in their time. In our time, we’ve had about 30 or so. In either time frame, they’re awesome. With the two recent Transformer films doing so well in theaters, and the revival of classic toons sparking (pun!) everyone’s interest, Discovery and Hasbro decided they’d take advantage of this for their new network, The Hub, and launch an all new series, Transformers Prime. The CG toon is built in the world of generation one, when Optimus Prime did regular battle with Megatron. They’ve even gone so far as bringing back many of the original voice actors from the 1980s toon for the definitive cartoon, including: Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Gina Torres, James Remer, Josh Keaton, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Markie Post. Take a look at a teaser trailer

Transformers: Exodus, the creation of Autobots and Decepticons

Transformers Exodus, the creation of Autobots and Decepticons

Alex Irvine has done what many would deem impossible: he’s chronicled the official history of the war for Cybertron in his latest book Transformers: Exodus. The novel was published by Del Rey Books and developed by Hasbro in an effort to chart the creation of the Transformers two sides: the Autobots the Decepticons, as well as the civil war that brewed between them. Activision plans to take the next step in their upcoming video game “Transformers: War for Cybertron” with many notions likely appearing in Irvine’s book, which is due out June 22nd of this year.

Voltron Panthera Force

Voltron Panthera Force

At a recent presentation of it’s upcoming awesomeness, Nickelodeon vowed to introduce the world to Voltron Panthera Force, the latest edition of the Voltron franchise. The franchise has seen many incarnations in it’s 30 years of cartoons, hitting high notes in the mid 80s with the Voltron Lion Squad. The new series, like the original, will follow a group of five young cadets who are brought together to form a newly appointed team dubbed the “Panthera Force.” The series will be produced by World Events Productions, the company that produced the original series, in conjunction with Kick Start Production, as the pair aim to get it ready for Nicktoons later this fall.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hitting DVD and Blu-ray

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hitting DVD and Blu-ray

One shall stand and one shall fall. Isn’t that always the way? I have the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen DVD and Blu-ray cases up on my shelf, and one of them always manages to fall over while the other one stays up there. That must be what Optimus Prime meant. Maybe not. Whatever the case, I’ll be able to find out later as I watch the film, which is available in both aforementioned formats today. The Paramount blockbuster sequel, which made more than $400 million in the US theaters, kicks off a whole new storyline, with the Autobots and Decepticons battling across our planet. Get hyped up with the clip below the break, detailing the mythology of the series, as well as Sam’s storyline.
