Dragon Quest Summer Festival 2017 Lined Up for August

With Dragon Quest II getting much better critical and fan reception than its musou-inspired predecessor, it’s only right that fans get a chance to celebrate one of the most popular RPG franchises (that isn’t Final Fantasy) in the world, and they can do it on August 5 and 6 via the Dragon Quest Summer Festival 2017.

The event marks the 30th anniversary of the Dragon Quest franchise and will be held at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center, where a series retrospective and other special features will be presented. Strangely enough, this is no simple anniversary as it also holds a sub-anniversary within: Dragon Quest X will be celebrating its fifth year anniversary through a stage show and celebrity guest appearances.

The Summer Festival itself will be free so any one can attend, but the stage show has a ¥2,000 (about $18) entry fee.
