According to a recent report from Variety, actor James Marsden has been cast in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The movie is produced by Paramount and will be a live-action and CG hybrid, which means Marsden will be playing a role and not voicing a character.
Many comic book fans will be familiar with James Marsden for his role in several comic book-inspired films, most notably in the original X-Men trilogy, where he played the mutant superhero team’s leader Cyclops. He has also played a part in Superman Returns and most recently has earned accolades as Teddy Flood in HBO’s Westworld.
There’s a dearth of information about Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog movie, so we have no idea what the story is going to be about. The only other information besides James Marsden’s casting is that Deadpool director Tim Miller will serve as executive producer, Neal H. Moritz as producer, and Jeff Fowler as director. The script comes from the fertile minds of Golan the Insatiable creators Pat Casey and Josh Miller.
