Newtype Confirms Madoka Magica Film Trilogy
The latest issue of Newtype has confirmed that the hit anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica will get its own feature film, but instead of a single film adaptation, the Madoka Magica series will instead get a big screen trilogy. Puella Magi Madoka Magica revolves around a fictional reality, where there are magical creatures that can grant one wish to a chosen girl, on the condition that said girl must become a magical girl and use her newfound powers to fight against the forces of darkness, which it so happens is responsible for a large number of murders and suicides.
Madoka Magica’s main protagonist is a schoolgirl named Madoka Kaname and her friend Sayaka Miki, who both get the chance to be a magical girl, and another magical girl named Homura Akemi, who tries her best to prevent Madoka from being one. Madoka has been promised that she will be the most powerful magical girl ever, should she choose to be one, but she soon finds out that there is a darker side to getting her wishes granted.
The first two films of the Madoka Magica film trilogy will serve as a recap of the series, but the third installment will be an entirely new story, according to Newtype.
