The 26 x 22-minute CG-animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman and Jason Howard’s Super Dinosaur comic book series is heading to Australia. Free-to-air broadcaster ABC ME will premiere the series May 18th at 7:35 AM.
Produced by Spin Master Entertainment in conjunction with Skybound Entertainment with animation by Atomic Cartoons, Super Dinosaur debuted last September in Canada on Teletoon. Developer Big Blue Bubble soft-launched the Kickin’ Tail mobile game shortly after.
Adapted for television by Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt, the show follows child genius Derek Dynamo and his best bud Super Dinosaur as they confront the fiercest of foes while juggling a challenging home life. Deven Mack stars as the titular Super Dinosaur, while Valin Shinyei voices Derek Dynamo. Marco Soriano plays the villainous Max Maximus.
Image Comics published 23 issues of Super Dinosaur between 2011 and 2014. The concept for the series was originally conceived after artist Jason Howard sketched a superhero-looking Tyrannosaurus Rex for his young son. Kirkman then thought about a Rex controlling larger robotic arms with its tiny ones. From there, a new book was born aimed at both kids and their parents.
