When the indie 2D run and gun/platforming game Cuphead was first released, it attracted a lot of attention not only from gamers but also from cartoon fans due to the use of an engine that simulates the look of classic Fleischer-era cartoons. It brought a lot of charm to the visuals, which heavily contrasted with the game’s brutal difficulty.
Recently, the folks at 64 Bits homed in on Cuphead’s distinctive art style and decided to do a mashup video with another game that is known for its casual-unfriendly difficulty – Dark Souls. The short video is called CupSouls, which reimagines From Software’s Dark Souls using the visual style employed by Cuphead. You can watch it below:
