Nintendo has announced that the newest entry in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series will be released on March 24 of next year. The game will be titled Gates to Infinity, and will feature new mechanics added to the tried and tested dungeon-crawling gameplay. It will also take full advantage of the Nintendo 3DS’ unique capabilities in new ways:
Choose between Pikachu, Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig or Axew as playable characters
Augmented Reality Mechanics: Use the 3DS cameras on real-world circular objects to access additional game-created “Magnagates” to create additional dungeons to playthrough after completing the main dungeons
New wireless multiplayer functionality with more specific details being revealed in the future
Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon will put a heavier emphasis on replay value, as the game’s main dungeons will change the locations of items everytime the player re-enters them, along with the dependency on the 3DS’s camera in order to incorporate Augmented Reality features to the game.
