With comic book movie adaptations being the flavor of the month (or decade, considering how long it’s been going on), it’s no surprise that Sony already has two sequels to The Amazing Spider-Man in the pipeline. After all, they probably learned their lesson from Fox’s mistake of letting several of their licenses to Marvel properties lapse. However, what’s interesting is that Sony may be going further than mere sequels, as Sony Co-Chair Amy Pascal has recently revealed to investors that a series of spin-off projects may soon be on the horizon.
“We are going to access Marvel’s full world of Spider-Man characters,” said Pascal, “so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains.”
It does seem like a solid plan, as the Spider-Man universe is home to many characters that can carry a movie on their own, the most famous one being Spidey’s on-again,off-again nemesis and ally, the Anti-hero Venom.
