First American Weekend Without Saturday Morning Cartoons

Many American kids these days get their animation fix from platforms outside of broadcast TV. Whether it’s through streaming services, Youtube, or even means that fall outside of what’s considered legal – American kids still have access to animated content any time they want but there was a time when cartoons dominated Saturday morning. It used to be that broadcast TV during Saturday mornings is full of kid-targeted animated content and advertisers who knew their target market (the adverts for toys at the time were a joy to watch by themselves.)

Little Known Facts About Your Favorite Cartoon Characters

Once again, I’m basing this on my own experiences. I’ve watched tons of cartoons from different studios since the 80s and when the Internet “happened,” I used it to find out more content related to cartoons. I thought I knew almost everything there is to know about the cartoon characters that I liked, but it turns out there are a few tidbits that I missed. Here are some of the best ones:

ToonBarn is so excited to have had the opportunity to interview the man behind Acidfree Gallery, Chris Wofford. ToonBarn’s Marc Morrell found out about the business behind these great Limited Edition Prints, as Chris shares a lot of information with us about the artists, the licensing deals, and the paper that goes into providing these awesome screen prints.

RetroCon Debuts With Thundercats Voice Actors

RetroCon: a toy and nostalgia-oriented convention in south-east Pennsylvania, debuted for the first time on Veterans Day, November 11, 2012, to huge crowds at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.

RetroCon focused mainly around classic toys of the 80’s, but also spotlighted were the movies, the video games, the cartoons, the fads… you get the idea. It’s all Retro!

RetroCon was a major toy show with lots of fun, a Back To the Future Delorean for fans to check out, a costume contest, a display of replica movie/cartoon props, several retro arcade games, and more!
