Pixar readies La Luna short at the D23 Expo for Disney’s Brave in 2012

Pixar readies La Luna short at the D23 Expo for Disney's Brave in 2012

One obvious highlight of Disney’s 2011 D23 Expo, in addition to all the regular House of Mouse awesomeness, was the almost-secret screening of La Luna, the Enrico Casarosa CG animated short from Pixar. Readying itself for a big screen debut in front of next summer’s Brave, La Luna follows a long line of beautiful Pixar shorts, from Jack Jack Attack, to Burn-E, to Mike’s New Car, Hawaiian Vacation, Presto, Boundin, and so many more; each typically featured in a spot before one of Pixar’s big films. The 4 minute tale focuses on a young boy, who reveres his father and grandfather, following in their footsteps where possible. Not in a big, adventurous way, or a grand story with many cinematic plotpoints… just a simple, brief, and beautiful tale. Take a look at a sneak peek clip, then get ready for the full deal, with Brave.

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story Small Fry joins Jim Henson’s The Muppets

Disney and Pixar's Toy Story Small Fry joins Jim Henson's The Muppets

On November 23rd, the Muppets will finally make their return to the big screen, ready to impress the legions of old fans and a world of new ones. The Disney mascots wont be traveling alone, however, as the film will be joined by a brand new Toy Story short, entitled Small Fry. When Cars 2 hit theaters a few months back, movie goers were also greeted with a short from the Toy Story universe, and the appearance of another has us hoping Pixar really could do a Toy Story 4 someday. But, more importantly, getting proper placement with the Muppets is quite an honor. The recent D23 Expo 2011 not only made special mention of this pairing, but also offered a beautiful tribute to Jim Henson, as Rowlf and Kermit paired to sing the famed Rainbow Connection. Disney’s D23 Expo 2011 teases The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs

Disney's D23 Expo 2011 teases The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs

When we’re done with Monsters, we’ll get Dinosaurs; so says Pixar at Disney’s D23 Expo 2011. This weekend, the company unveiled two new films with vague bits of teaser information, both scheduled to hit big screen after the Monsters Inc prequel, Monsters University, which hits on June 21st, 2013. The first of the two, set to be in theaters on November 27th, 2013, will focus on Dinosaurs, and was given the comically pleasing working title of The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs. The premise, according to director Bob Peterson (who also voiced Roz from Monster’s, Inc. and UP’s dog, Dug) asks what would happen if dinosaurs never went extinct? Unfortunately for Toy Story’s Rex, the concept seems to spread past his short reach. Unfortunately, not much more is known at this time, other than the glimpses of the sneak peeks, which feature a boy, a large brontosaurus, a pterodactyl, some mosquitoes, and more. What do you think the film will be about?
