Disney preps Gravity Falls for Mystery Shack, Dipper and Mabel Pines

Disney preps Gravity Falls for Mysery Shack, Dipper and Mabel Pines

Can you imagine losing your entire summer when you’re sent to some distant relative’s house? No beaches, no tropical vacations; just your Great Uncle Stan’s house, in some faraway house in Oregon. Having just had a great summer here at the ToonBarn Studios, we definitely feel bad for Dipper and Mabel Pines, who are faced with just that situation on Disney’s upcoming animated series Gravity Falls. Living with “Grunkle Stan” in the Mystery Shack, and helping to run the world’s most bizarre museum doesn’t sound appealing — but its just that oddness that eventually catches Dipper and Mabel’s attention. Something very strange is going on, and the duo has to find their way through their local adventures, together. The Alex Hirsch series is now deep into production, looking to hit the Disney Channel in the spring of 2012.

Oscar’s Oasis a ratings hit for Disney, TeamTo, Cake, and Tuba

Oscar's Oasis a ratings hit for Disney, TeamTo, Cake, and Tuba

Cake Entertainment certainly knows how to create a winner! Best case in point is their latest offering, Oscar’s Oasis, a collaboration between Cake, TeamTo, and Tuba Entertainment that tells the story of a lonely lizard who fights through an unforgiving desert terrain and a seemingly endless horde of enemies. From chickens to Popy, Buck, and Harchi, it often seems like Oscar can’t catch a break, despite all his beset efforts to just catch flies and find water. The new CG toon has found a great home on the Disney Channel in many markets, like Asia and Australia, with plans to expand through out Europe and North America soon enough. So, if you’re not one of the lucky few who gets to enjoy one of the 78 new episodes every week, check out these clips and let us know what you think

Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network lead 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards

Between last June and this May, we’ve had ourselves a nice little year of animation happiness. Just think of all the new shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Kick Buttowski, and returning legends like SpongeBob and Phineas and Ferb. Typically, we reward these great moments by … well, by watching them! Again and again in many cases. But the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has a better idea: nominating many of these greats for an Emmy, where winners will be selected during the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards. Juggernauts Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon lead the pack with 6 nominations a piece to their name. Disney is no slouch either, pulling in 2 nods toward the Disney Channel and one for Disney XD. The awards ceremony will air Sunday, September 18th at 8pm on Fox, but you can get a sneak peek at some of the toon-related categories right here

In this new alternate universe, Phineas and Ferb discover alternate versions of themselves, Candace, … and, well, everyone! This world’s Dr. Doof is a super evil villain, aiming to take over the world with his familiar-looking sidekick Platyborg. Maybe this time, Perry will make the ultimate sacrifice and reveal his secret identity as Agent P. Or, maybe this time, Doof will win and take over both dimensions. Heck, maybe we’ll just finally see Candace get the boys in trouble. Whatever happens, we can’t wait. So TOON in to Disney Channel on August 5th (or the replay on Disney XD August 13th) and help Phineas and Ferb Across the Second Dimension!
