A bunch of DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming movies will get their own videogames as DreamWorks Animation and interactive entertainment software developer D3Publisher (D3P) sign a worldwide publishing agreement for games based on three new animated feature films: Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, Rise of the Guardians, and the Croods.

If you’re a big fan of RPGs and Akira Toriyama’s art style, chances are you’re also a big fan of Chrono Trigger, the massively successful 16 bit RPG with characters designed by the Dragonball Z artist/creator. Not only is Chrono Trigger the third best selling game of 1995 (and considered as one of the greatest video games of all time by several game mags), it was also ported to the PSX, the Nintendo DS and the virtual console, where it had comparable success.

Square Enix readies Superspeed Transforming Gyrozetter to take form next year

Japanese video game giant Square Enix has announced Speed Transformer Gyrozetter, a new multi-media project spanning arcade & video games, manga series, a television anime, toys, a TCG, and more! The franchise is set to launch this month with the debut of Gyrozetter in Saikyo JUMP, Shueshia’s kid-oriented Shonen JUMP manga anthology in Japan. The franchise will then continue onwards in 2012 with an arcade game, a television anime series produced by A-1 Pictures launching next summer, and lastly, a Nintendo 3DS game.

…and it’s not a videogame about a cartoon show either, but a realistic war game: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 has a launch that is not only the biggest in the videogame industry, the Activision game can boast of numbers that will eclipse even the openings of Adventures of Tintin and Kung Fu Panda 2 combined. The game sold 6.5 million units in NA and UK, earning $400 million and well on its way to $1 billion. Which still eclipses even the opening takes of the highest grossing film of all time, Harry Potter’s latest/last installment, which only took in $91 million as its opening gross.

Dragonball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi

SUH-WEET! Namco Bandai has released a new trailer for their latest Dragonball game, Ultimate Tenkaichi. The usual heavyweight villains are shown, as you can expect from any Dragonball game trailer (especially ones that are from the Tenkaichi series, since their selling point is the sheer number of characters they have.): Cell, Frieza, Buu are all featured, but surprising is the appearance of villains that only appeared once in movies, such as Metal/Cyber Cooler, Janemba, and the towering Hirudegarn.

Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi blasts off on PS3, and Xbox 360

Goku and friends blast off once again on the HD consoles as Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi is now available. This latest game in the ever lasting Dragon Ball series features 30 minutes of brand new animation, a create a character mode, an extensive story mode covering the first conflict with Raditz to the final battle with Boo, cinematic battles, over 40 characters, giant boss battles and more. Publisher Namco Bandai is expecting big things from this latest Dragon Ball Z release.

Gundam, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman take flight in Lost Heroes on Nintendo 3DS

Namco Bandai’s Banpresto label announced an interesting crossover during Nintendo’s press conference, called Nintendo Direct. This new title combines Japanese super hero franchises, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman with anime powerhouse Mobile Suit Gundam in Lost Heroes. The new 3DS title is a dungeon crawling role playing game set to hit Japanese shelves next year. Check out the debut trailer after the jump.

Little Battlers eXperience Boosts onto PSP

Level-5’s robot battling franchise, The Little Battlers eXperience has created big business for the Japanese video game publisher. The franchise spawns a hit anime series, a video game on PSP that’s at 300,000 units and counting, a toyline that has amassed more than 1.5 million units in sales, card games, arcade games, and more. So it should come to no surprise that more LBX is on the way as Level-5 announces an expanded re-release of the original PSP title in The Little Battlers eXperience: Boost set to hit Japanese store shelves next month.

South Park Digital Studios has announced that a new Xbox Live Arcade game entitled South Park: Tenorman’s Revenge is set to launch in spring 2012. South Park: Tenorman’s Revenge is developed by Other Ocean Interactive, which was responsible for the development of Konami’s Xbox LIVE arcade port of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and the Nintendo DS port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat.
