Turner Acquires New Season of Gormiti

Turner Broadcasting has recently acquired the new season Mondo TV’s hit CG animated series Gormiti (52 x 22) and will be broadcasting it on its channels in 130+ countries all over the world.

Gormiti was originally developed for the 6-11 year old boy demographic, and debuted on Turner’s kids channel Boing in Spain and Italy earlier this year. Turner’s future plans include an international launch across all of EMEA next year, with the show also licensed by Cartoon Network and will be broadcast in countries not covered by Turner.

I have to admit that Gormiti’s action puzzler for the Nintendo DS, entitled The Lords of Nature, went past my radar when it first came out. Primarily because it came out during the DS’ twilight, as I am already starting to migrate my handheld gaming to the 3DS. But I recently checked it out while looking for Gormiti related games.

The Invincible Lords of Nature are making their way to becoming the Invincible Lords of T-Shirts! They’ve conquered the world of action figures, video games, and trading card games, and now they’re honing in on clothing lines. Giochi Preziosi Group is working together with a company called Fipo Group Aps (aka Fipotex) to create a whole new line of Gormiti-related apparel. Included in the mix are t-shirts, jeans, swimwear, pajamas, and more. The first lines are projected to hit Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Iceland in the next few weeks, spreading to other areas of Europe by the end of the year, and perhaps globally by next summer. Marathon Media’s Totally Spies! franchise has done well for the company, garnering even more interest in the past few months when Marathon and Cartoon Network agreed to air Totally Spies in the US. Included in the deal was the Totally Spies movie, aptly named “Totally Spies: The Movie!” which originally aired in France last July. Marathon is also known for it’s series Monster Buster Club, Martin Mystery, and the rising star Gormiti, so they’re certainly no newbie for toons! The group, which stars three teenage girls (Sam, Clover, and Alex) is created in the super-hero girl team style of Sailor Moon, Winx Club, and others – both beautiful and powerful. We’ve been adding a number of SuperSites to ToonBarn over the past few months. SuperSites, for those not in the know, are homepage-like sections of ToonBarn that focus on a specific cartoon. There’s one for Batman, one for Ben 10 which includes Ben 10 and Ben 10 Alien Force, there’s one for Pokemon, one for SpongeBob SquarePants, one for Winx Club, one for the Total Drama franchise, etc. Newest to the party list is Gormiti, whose SuperSite launches this week. Gormiti: The Lords of Nature hits Nintendo Wii and Nintend DS

Konami is bringing Gormiti fans with a Nintendo Wii or Nintendo DS a treat; their upcoming Gormiti: The Lords of Nature video game. The game recently made its first appearance at Toy Fair 2010, in Germany. The game is targeting a fall release this year, using characters and locations from Marathon and Giochi Prezios’s animated TV series, recreating the island of Gorm. There, the Lords of Earth, Sea, Air and Forest are charged with stopping the evil Magmion from wreaking havoc. The game also includes 40 minutes of animated scenes voiced by actors from the show. Gormiti figures big in demand for the holidays

A few days ago, we asked you what you were most hoping for this holiday season. A number of you have since responded with your various wish list items, ranging from toon-specific video games to toon-specific dolls. However, one specific item has made itself known both in your responses as well as reports around the globe: Gormiti is in! The property that has become a world-wide sensation is growing. Action figures, mini figures, play sets, accessories… Gormiti The Invincible Lords of Nature has been in gigantic demand over the past few weeks; perhaps more so than ever before. We’ve known about some of the Gormiti toys for awhile, and a quick look at a few online shops sees the figure packs and 2-packs already sold out. Is Gormiti on your list?
