Dreamworks Has Hired Two New Presidents:

Dreamworks has had a tough year. Mentioned in the scandal and subsequent lawsuit over collusion with Disney, Pixar and others to keep wages low. Its movies haven’t done so well… so changes had to be made. The long time President for Creative for Dreamworks is out and in its place, will be two Co Presidents. This follows Cartoon Networks recent hiring for a female executive after the shift around of several executives months before:

Major management shake-up this afternoon at the creatively struggling DreamWorks Animation. The studio just announced that veteran producers Bonnie Arnold and Mireille Soria, the respective lead producers of the studio’s How to Train Your Dragon and Madagascar franchises, will oversee creative development and production for DreamWorks Animation’s theatrical releases.

20th Century Fox has just posted a brand new trailer for the upcoming animated comedy from DreamWorks Animation, The Penguins of Madagascar. The super-duper hilarious Madagascar spin-off, which is the penguin quintet’s biggest adventure yet, has been slated for a November 26th, 2014 release but you can watch the trailer now via iTunes or simply by going for the embedded video after the cut:

Netflix and DreamWorks Reveal Three New Series

Netflix and DreamWorks Animation have recently announced three more original animated kids’ series as part of their partnership. The list includes Puss in Boots, Veggie Tales in the House, and King Julien. The two streaming partners also announced the premiere date for the second batch of episodes for Turbo FAST: Friday, April 4. You can check out the teasers below:

Cartoon Network’s Regular Show and Nickelodeon’s The Penguins of Madagascar both received top honors at this year’s 2012 Primetime Creative Arts Emmys, which was presented last Saturday at the Nokia Theatre in LA.

Penguins of Madagascar, which is a spin off of the hit Madagascar movie series, was awarded the Outstanding Animated Program honor due to the episode “The Return of the Revenge of Dr. Blowhole”. Penguins is slated to spawn an upcoming full length movie feature of its own.

Last weekend, Pixar proved that it still has the chops needed to secure a spot on top of the box office, with the studio’s 13th animated feature, Brave, taking the number one spot at the box office on it’s first opening week with an impressive $66.7 domestic gross. Brave also marks a milestone for the animation studio as the first Pixar film to have a female lead. Opening in 10 territories representing 17% of the foreign market and making $13.5 million puts Brave’s global take at $80.2 million.

Contrary to what some critics initially predicted, the third installment of DreamWorks’ Madagascar series proved to be a hit as it managed to score an impressive $60.4 million at the US blox office and landed on the top of the ticket sales chart during its first weekend. Madagascar 3 actually opened slightly behind the previous installment Madagascar Escape 2 Africa, which opened with $63.1 million in 2008, but the threequel is actually doing well in international territories, collecting a $75.5 million from 28 markets, which may end up surpassing the sequel’s $603 million global take if it continues to pull in great numbers.

If you’re really into bananas, then chances are you have already noticed one of Dreamworks Animation’s recent promotional campaigns for Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. In case you haven’t, the studio has partnered with Dole Fresh Fruit co. in order to give away 100 million specially branded bananas with Madagascar stickers to stores all over the country.

New Madagascar App Lets You Join the Circus

D3Publisher and DreamWorks Animation have recently teamed up for Madagascar: Join the Circus! App for iOS devices (such as iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch), which lets players experience what it’s like to be the ringleader of a one of a kind traveling show that is touring Europe en route to NYC. Players will be doing everything in their ability to help the Madagascar characters and their new friends build the world’s greatest circus via a wide range of minigames and fun activities.

Emmy Award-winning actress Melissa McCarthy (of Mike and Molly, Bridesmaids) guest stars on Nickelodeon’s hit CG animated series, The Penguins of Madagascar, this Sunday, May 6 at 10 AM ET/PT.

McCarthy will lend her voice to a love struck ostrich named Shelly, who will play a very important part in Rico’s life. In the episode, entitled “Love Takes Flightless”, the ostrich Shelly accidentally gets stuck in quick-drying cement, and only Rico can save her. The act of heroism results in Shelly falling in love with the penguin, but Rico’s heart belongs only to his doll.

A bunch of DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming movies will get their own videogames as DreamWorks Animation and interactive entertainment software developer D3Publisher (D3P) sign a worldwide publishing agreement for games based on three new animated feature films: Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, Rise of the Guardians, and the Croods.
