amazing spider-man 2 trailer

A brand new trailer has just been released for the next installment in Marc Webb’s sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. The trailer gives you a sneak peek at Andrew Garfield’s second turn at the spider-suit, not that there’s anything new – it’s still the usual Peter Parker jumping and swinging around in his red and blue costume. What’s different this time is that he’s in for a really tough battle as he has to contend with a villain that may be way out of his league: Elektro. And there’s also Rhino.

Spider-Man was the first animated adaptation of the Spider-Man comic book series, created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko (first seen in Amazing Fantasy #15, August 1962). Season 1 contained mostly stories involving classic Spider-Man villains from the comic book series, who, when caught in Spider-Man’s web, were left for the Police to find, along with a note signed, “Courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.” Stan Lee, who created the character, served as story consultant for the first season of the show.

The Amazing Spider-Man sequel set for theaters May 2, 2014

Even though we’re still a full year away from the SpiderMan relaunch, which officially begins with The Amazing Spider-Man on July 3rd 2012, Sony is already hard at work on the film’s sequel! The rebooting franchise will have a second movie in theaters just about 20 months later, when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 spins a web on May 2nd, 2014. James Vanderbilt will craft the sequel, just as he has the first movie, and Andrew Garfield will swing along, as well. Other than that, not much more is known about the sequel at this time – which seems about right, because there’s not that much information on the first film yet!

Marvel Comics gets new Spider-Man to replace Peter Parker

Marvel Comics gets new Spider-Man to replace Peter Parker

Geez, it’s just not an easy time to be Spider-Man. First, Broadway announces the (temporary?) closing of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Now, Marvel seems to have had their fill of Peter Parker as the lead character all together! Starting with Ultimate Spider-Man issue 160, someone new will be wearing the Spider-Man costume. In fact, someone new will be wearing something new, as the whole Spidey suit gets an update. The sleek black and red design was just recently revealed, ready to put into practice this summer after issue 159’s “Death of Spider-Man” storyline. Yeesh! So who is the new wall crawler, web-slinger, man behind the mask? It’s a mystery, so far. As is the future of the classic Spidey, Peter Parker.

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark turns dark

Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark turns dark

Maybe it was the Green Goblin. Maybe it was due to the dozens of accidents. Heck, maybe the cast is just afraid of being devoured whole by partially untrained dragons. The true answers may never surface, but the fact remains: Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is closing. At least for now. During this past weekend’s show, the cast took a final bow as curtains closed, letting producers, including U2’s Bono and The Edge, and a new creative team have some time to overhaul and fix the show. Everyone involved hopes to have previews ready to go May 12th, with a relaunch on June 14th at the Foxwoods Theater. Technically, the show has still never opened, airing only previews since November of 2010. Maybe one day, Peter Parker. Maybe one day.

Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark – the on-again, off-again musical set to hit Broadway stages – is back. The upcoming show, with music and lyrics by U2’s Bono and The Edge, follows the story of teenager Peter Parker, whose unremarkable life is turned upside-down when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider. This bullied science geek, suddenly endowed with astonishing powers from the spider’s bite, soon learns that with great power comes great responsibility as villains test not only his physical strength but also his strength of character. Originally penned as a book by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger, the musical takes the Marvel Comics superhero to the stage, starring Reeve Carney as Peter Parker and Spider-Man.  Now fans can grab tickets in a special pre-sale offer through August 18th.  Check out the below poster for more details!
