Cartoon crossovers, ala Heroes United

Heroes United has us look back at other crossovers

The upcoming Ben 10 Ultimate Alien and Generator Rex crossover has everyone super hyped up. We’ve been adding new coverage of the special event as often as possible, simply because its just too ‘dern awesome looking. In addition to it just being a cool, brand new episode, its just a sweet concept to see two entirely different shows colliding in a single format. With that in mind, we wanted to take a look back into some of the other more famous cartoon matchups, teamups, crossovers, mix-n-matches, and… squish-together-ers!

A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner! wins Nickelodeon ratings

A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner! wins Nickelodeon ratings

Last weekend, Nickelodeon showcased the latest chapter in The Fairly OddParents franchise with A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner! As the ratings began trickling in, it became clear that Nick had a hit on their hands. Nearly 6 million viewers tuned in that Saturday, July 9th, making the made-for-TV special the top show of the week across every cable network. With an audience that big, and a story so well done (it really was a good movie, wasn’t it!), maybe we can start thinking about some sequels added to the franchise…?

A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner July 9th

In just one week, Nickelodeon will celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Fairly OddParents with the very first hybrid live-action and CG-animated TV movie, A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner! The flick kicks off on Saturday, July 9th, at 8pm, revealing a 20-year-old Timmy who refuses to grow up. Why? Well then he’d lose Cosmo and Wanda, his beloved fairy godparents! Drake Bell stars as Timmy Turner, who meets a now-grown up Tootie, played by Daniella Monet. However, if Timmy decides to grow up to chase after her, he may lose Cosmo (Jason Alexander and Daran Norris) and Wanda (Cheryl Hines and Susanne Blakeslee) to …an oil tycoon? Series creator Butch Hartman promises this will be a big one, so we’re sure to TOON in. Who’s with us?

The Fairly OddParents celebrates 10 years on Nickelodeon

The Fairly OddParents celebrates 10 years on Nickelodeon

For ten years, The Fairly OddParents has been entertaining folks across the Nickelodeon empire. Joining in the ranks of SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, the adventures of Timmy Turner and his magical fairy godparents have reached their 10th anniversary, moving into a special league of all-time classic toons. Just to put this amazing accomplishment into some better perspective, 10 years ago: New episodes of Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, and Johnny Bravo were on Cartoon Network. Rugrats, Men in Black, Pinky and the Brain welcomed The Fairly OddParents as a Nicktoon. Pokemon Johto League Champions, Max Steel, and Batman Beyond were on something that used to be called the KidsWB! Seems a little more impressive now, huh ūüôā

The Fairly OddParents go live-action in A Fairly Odd Movie, Grow Up Timmy Turner

Fairly Odd Parents just celebrated its 10th anniversary, a major milestone for any toon. In addition to always being my favorite Nicktoon, there’s more to this post than picking favorites! Nickelodeon teamed up with Butch Hartman (the creator of Fairly OddParents)¬†to bring us a live-action TV movie based on the world of this hilarious cartoon. Best of all, we’re just a month a way until the July 9th premiere on Nickelodeon!

The Fairly OddParents and Nickelodeon present A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner

Imagine you’re a kid. Well, ok, that’s probably pretty easy. Now imagine you’ve also got magical fairy God Parents that will grant you all kinds of special wishes. Better, right? Now imagine that when you grow up, you lose those fairy guardians. Terrible! Well, that’s the challenge that Timmy faces with Nickelodeon presents the upcoming, future-set movie A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner. The special, a mix of live action and CG animation, takes Nick’s The Fairly OddParents animated series 13 years to the future, where Timmy is now 23, and refusing to grow up. Why? Because “Da Rules” say godchildren lose their fairies when they do, and Timmy would have to leave Cosmo and Wanda behind. We’ll get the sneak peeks when we can, and look for the debut of this movie next year, 2011.
