Pixar Reveals Plans for Toy Story 4

Most fans of Pixar’s Toy Story franchise would assume that Toy Story 3 was the last movie in the franchise, as it managed to close the book on Woody and the gang’s life with Andy so beautifully that the TV specials no longer attempted to delve deep into their relationship with their new owner. However, John Lasseter has recently revealed that the studio is bringing back the iconic franchise to the big screens in June 16, 2017. While no specific plot details were revealed, Lassetter’s statement points to a continuation of the toys’ adventures after Andy, instead of a prequel.

Toy Story 3 already finished the story of Andy, Woody, Buzz, and the rest of his toys, and a continuation would cheapen the ending, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a spin-off that revisits the Toy Story universe from the perspective of another toy. And on the September 14 release of Pixar’s Finding Nemo 3D, we’re going to get the chance to see the most recent Toy Story short starring the plastic dinosaur, Rex.

Toy Story to Return in 2013 and 2014

Toy Story to Return in 2013 and 2014

Fans of Pixar’s Toy Story franchise will be delighted to know that Buzz, Woody, and the Gang will be returning in October 2013 and Spring 2014, but those who want a new installment of the movie franchise may find their delight marred a little bit, as the new installments announced are actually just 22 minute television specials featuring the characters of Toy Story. Additionally, there are also 3 new animated Toy Story shows in active development according to a book industry e-catalogue from Disney Publishing Worldwide.

Mattel brings Pixar’s Toy Story Space Mission To Infinity and Beyond

Mattel brings Pixar's Toy Story Space Mission To Infinity and Beyond

It’s been just a little over a year since Disney and Pixar brought the Toy Story franchise full circle, from Andy to Bonnie, with last summer’s Toy Story 3. However, even with the film’s bittersweet closure, fans have been wondering (Buzz-ing, even) about a fourth sequel since the credits rolled on the third film. And while Mattel isn’t exactly stepping forth to announce Toy Story 4, they did something almost as cool; animating a Toy Story short film using the actual Toy Story toys! The entire spot was created using toys from a new line, Toy Story: Space Mission, during a 4 week toymation filming session, where each character is all geared up in special outfits. Take a look at the animated short, as well as shots of the toy line!

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story Small Fry joins Jim Henson’s The Muppets

Disney and Pixar's Toy Story Small Fry joins Jim Henson's The Muppets

On November 23rd, the Muppets will finally make their return to the big screen, ready to impress the legions of old fans and a world of new ones. The Disney mascots wont be traveling alone, however, as the film will be joined by a brand new Toy Story short, entitled Small Fry. When Cars 2 hit theaters a few months back, movie goers were also greeted with a short from the Toy Story universe, and the appearance of another has us hoping Pixar really could do a Toy Story 4 someday. But, more importantly, getting proper placement with the Muppets is quite an honor. The recent D23 Expo 2011 not only made special mention of this pairing, but also offered a beautiful tribute to Jim Henson, as Rowlf and Kermit paired to sing the famed Rainbow Connection. Check out the video.

Disney and Pixar target November 27, 2013

Disney and Pixar target November 27, 2013

Hot on the release of Cars 2, the reveal of Planes, and the teaser info of Brave, Disney and Pixar are at it again, locking down November 27th, 2013 for … something! Truth is, no one knows for sure what that date is locking in. All that has been revealed thus far is that Disney and Pixar have secured that date, which falls sometime around Thanksgiving two years from now. Is this a look into Toy Story 4? A fixed release for Monsters University, currently slated for June of that year? Rumors are suggesting this is NOT a sequel to an existing franchise, so could we be looking at an entirely new Pixar and Disney film? CG? 3D? Who knows! All we can say is, as soon as our scouts get the information, we’ll keep you posted. If you had your wish, what would you like it to be?

Toy Story 4 puts Buzz in a vacuum

Toy Story 4 puts Buzz in a vacuum

Well… no. The first Toy Story saw Woody and Buzz get separated from Andy and the toys. Pixar’s sequel, Toy Story 2, had the crew meet with the Woody’s Round Up Gang. Disney’s third tale, Toy Story 3, reversed the plot of the first CG film and had Andy separate from the toys. Now, what if Toy Story 4 was simply Andy’s mom cleaning house and vacuuming up all the spare bits and pieces of each and every toy? Tell me that doesn’t sound a little more threatening than Zurg! Recently, a commercial for the LG Kompressor Elite debuted on TVs around the globe, showing off the vacuum’s power. The story told in the 75 second clip takes that Toy Story 4 concept for a spin.
