Rainbow Brite Returns as a Web Series

Originally created by Hallmark in 1983, the Rainbow Brite franchise and its TV series and movie adaptations became one of the most recognizable kid’ properties in the world, particularly during the years 1984 to 1986. The Internet made it possible for a generation that wasn’t even born during its time to know about and appreciate the property and its colorful cast of characters, but now it seems like the Internet will be the one to bring the character back to life, in an updated format of course.

According to an announcement from Subscription video on demand service Feeln.com, the beloved animated series will be revived this coming November exclusively on their service, featuring voices of actresses Emily Osment as Rainbow Brite and Molly Ringwald as series antagonist, the Dark Princess. The new series will feature a sharper and updated art style as well as stories that will be more relevant to the current generation.

“With Rainbow Brite, we believe we have created something that captures the essence of the original series — but with a vision that resonates today,” said Iris Ichishita, head of original entertainment for Feeln, in a statement. “We hope audiences will react with an ‘oh my bows!’ — just like us.”
